Ben Ram and Robbie Blackhall-Miles are organising a northern meeting in North Wales on Saturday 20th September. The plan is to take in three places which are located very close to one another.
We will start the day at 10.30am at the main entrance (by the ticket counters) of Plas Newydd House and Gardens, Anglesey. The gardens contain a large collection of Eucalyptus and Nothofagus in the Australasian Arboretum as well as some rare Chilean shrubs. For those interested, the house also contains Rex Whistler’s 47 foot, exquisitely romantic mural ‘Claudian Fantasy’. There is a tea room for those who wish to have lunch here too.
We will then visit the nearby Crug Farm Plants, a mecca for rare plant enthusiasts, where Robbie works as the propagator. This is a great opportunity to look around the gardens as well as buy some plants.
Finally we will travel to Robbie and Ben’s Fossil Garden in Llanberis, where most of the plants have a fossil record going back to between 360 and 60 million years ago, including many southern hemisphere species.
We will do a plant swap for those interested, so do bring along some plants if you can.
If you are interested in attending please contact Robbie on firstname.lastname@example.org or Ben on email@example.com.
